Global Forest Watch to fight deforestation

global forest watch logoDeforestation is a large driver of increasing greenhouse gases emissions and an important environmental issue as every minute of every day the equivalent of 50 football fields of trees are being cut down. But this could change soon.

The World Resources Institute, Google, USAid, and UNEP, and many more institutions and companies have teamed up to create the Global Forest Watch, a near-real time online monitoring platform solely dedicated to trees and forests.

Many environmental websites such as Treehugger or Cleantechnica wrote about the initiative. Let’s hope this will indeed help end deforestation as soon as possible.
