100% renewables in Denmark by 2050

You must have read or heard about it by now : Denmark is willing to be powered by a hundred percent renewable energies by 2050. The government have set an interim goal of 35 percent by 2020.

Additionally, the country is willing to cut by 34 percent its emissions by 2020 compared to 1990. This is to my knowledge the third European nation to go above the mandatory 20 percent cuts by 2020 after Germany and the UK.

Isn’t it more than high time for both the European Union and the G-20 nations to follow suit. Let’s hope the Rio conference will show, for once, real leadership.
