A few quotes on pessimism

Despite I have a very optimistic personality – a trait inherited from my beloved grand-father Louis – It’s hard not to be pessimistic when we look at some news on climate these days. The socio-economic situation ain’t that bright either.

So I had a look at some quotes on pessimism. Nearly all of them point out to the fact that being pessimistic is bad. Bad for you, and as a matter of fact, for the entire community… So let’s smile, roll up our sleeves and go on with it.

I don’t believe in pessimism. If something doesn’t come up the way you want, forge ahead. If you think it’s going to rain, it will. ~ Clint Eastwood.

A pessimist is somebody who complains about the noise when opportunity knocks.
~ Oscar Wilde

Pessimist: One who, when he has the choice of two evils, chooses both.
~ Oscar Wilde

The optimist sees the rose and not its thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious to the rose
~ Kahlil Gibran

That’s my gift. I let that negativity roll off me like water off a duck’s back. If it’s not positive, I didn’t hear it. If you can overcome that, fights are easy.
~ George Foreman

“ pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties
~ Harry S Truman

Pessimism is an excuse for not trying and a guarantee to a personal failure.
~ Bill Clinton

How many pessimists end up by desiring the things they fear, in order to prove that they are right.
~ Robert Mallet

Pessimists are the people who have no hope for themselves or for others. Pessimists are also people who think the human race is beneath their notice, that they’re better than other human beings.
~ James Baldwin

The world belongs to optimists. Pessimists are only spectators.
~ François Guizot

I am an optimist, unrepentant and militant. After all, in order not to be a fool an optimist must know how sad a place the world can be. It is only the pessimist who finds this out anew every day.
~ Peter Ustinov

  1. shine that flashlight of clean energy upon this darkening path, for all to find their way to optimum living.
you have earned the respect of many, and educated the few…positive direction will enlighten..
harry and bill kahlil and francois said it!

  3. Well, just as I got news from that friend : our friendship is over. we are through. We were so near and now, to her, we are so faaaar…

editing that introduction right away ?

Glad you enjoyed this post though ^^
